My dream is to qualify for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo read more

Alexa Fairchild

I have two great loves: riding and fashion. Right now I’m balancing the two: commuting between Anky’s training center in the Netherlands and my fashion school in London. I compete in the “Grand Prix Under 25” category for Belgium and I have been a part of the Belgian dressage team at 9 consecutive European Championships. My goal: to qualify for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. When I’m not training and spending time with my horses, I’m pursuing my other love: studying fashion at the Istituto Marangoni. Welcome to my world.

My mentor

Everyone needs a mentor, and I am so privileged to have Anky van Grunsven as mine. Anky has broken so many barriers in dressage and she has set the bar sky-high for everyone coming after her. She brings so much experience and skill to the table, constantly challenging me and helping me to develop as a rider and a person. I couldn’t do this without her.

My horses

Of course none of this would be possible without my wonderful horses. When you work so closely together, training day in and day out, you develop a bond with each horse, and our chemistry is an important factor in my success.

Vanita, or Newton as I call him, is my buddy. He’s never one to shy away from a camera, and he definitely knows how to strike a pose! We’re learning the Grand Prix ropes together and I couldn’t ask for a better partner.

IDA SELLY A

IDA SELLY A

KWPN Mare

I call her Black Beauty, and there’s no wonder why – just look at her! She was born in 2013, so she’s just a baby, but she’s got a natural talent. We’re still getting to know each other, but I can already sense her bravery and inborn curiosity.
